UFC London Aspinall v Blaydes - Betting Preview
The UFC had such a successful event in London in March they've returned to do it all over again. The card is decent with some of the main MMA names from across the UK and Europe
Blaydes v Aspinall
Tom Aspinall is leaping up the UFC heavyweight rankings. He defeated Alexander Volkov in March in very convincing fashion, he didn’t take any major damage and managed to submit Volkov in the first round - about as perfect as he could have hoped for. Plus, the fact that Aspinall is undefeated in the UFC and really hasn’t looked tested in any of his fights, there is alot of hype behind him.
However, Blaydes has much more competitive MMA experience with 19 professional fights with 15 of those in the UFC. Whereas Aspinall has 14 professional fights but only 5 in the UFC.
Stylistically, Aspinall claims that Blaydes is one of the hardest in the division for him to face - this is mostly due to Blaydes wrestling background.
The odds backup the fact that this is going to be a super close fight - currently Betway have, 1.91 Blaydes, 1.77 Aspinall.*
Pimblett v Leavitt
Where Aspinall plays down the hype and gives his opponent respect, it’s fair to say Paddy Pimblett is the opposite - he loves the hype and he loves the trash talk!
Paddy is only on this third UFC fight, however, he has such a social media following and is so popular it seems like he’s been around forever.
Jordan Leavitt seems to think that Pimblett’s team have been cherrypicking easy fights for him to pad out his UFC record (as per MMA Fighting) and that’s house this matchup came about. Leavitt believes that Pimblett exposed his vulnerabilities in his first two fights by taking significant strikes - Jordan is confident to capitalise on this.
The odds here are fairly heavily in Paddy’s favour - currently, Unibet have 2.95 Leavitt, 1.4 Pimblett.*
Craig v Oezdemir
An interesting fight stylistically - Craig being a phenomenal grappler and having the advantage on the ground, then Oezdemir being the superior at standup. Oezdemir has a faced the top-top level of the Light Heavyweight category (Cormier, Reyes, Procházka) and is very experienced - Craig has a great record but doesn’t have the same calibre names.
The odds are relatively even, however, currently are favoring Oezdemir. At the time of writing, Betway has 2.15 Craig, 1.7 Oezdemir.*
UFC London Accumulator
Although tempting to go for the ‘UK Accumulator’ and select all of the local athletes (Aspinall, Pimblett, Craig & McCann) we are aiming to get a return and look for value where possible. That means we’re taking all of the home favourites apart from Paul Craig. We’re looking at:
- Aspinall to win
- Pimblett to win
- Oezdemir to win
- McCann to win
- Accumulator/Parlay odds: 5.32
