UFC 268 Betting Preview
Just one week after the stacked card of UFC267 we’re back with even more incredible fights to look forward to. Two title fights, both of which are re-matches and both of which have a certain amount of grudge match about them… all the ingredients for sparks to fly and all around entertainment for the fans.
Let’s take a look at the main fights and where we’re going to be betting on each of them:
Colby Covington v Kamaru Usman
The main event, for the UFC Welterweight title - defending champion Usman against #1 ranked contender Covington. Usman currently holds a record of 19-1-0 and Covington a record of 15-2-0.
The two last fought on December 14th 2019 - in the fight Covington fought very well for the first round, then after taking a few heavy body shots he started to fade. Covington did land some good offensive shots on Usman, however, Usman was just grinding Covington down. Then, of course, was when Usman managed to break Covington’s jaw and the fight was stopped - TKO win for Usman. Interestingly, the judges had the points between the two evenly split despite it seeming like Usman was in control.
So, looking at their previous fight and their current record you’d think that the odds would be close, however, at the time of writing, the odds aren’t close at all:

Since their first fight Covington has only fought once, whereas Usman has fought three times and three times been successful at defending his title. Plus, in his previous fight against Masvidal he made such a convincing statement that his confidence will be sky high.
So, is there value in betting on Covington at 3.25? We can’t see it happening. We will be betting on Usman but including it as part of our parlay/accumulator to get more value.
Rose Namajunas v Weili Zhang
Only six months on since Namajunas knocked out Zhang in the first round and won the UFC Strawweight title it’s time for the rematch.
Prior to their first fight, Zhang was clear favourite in the bookies, now, for the second fight, the odds are much more even:

Zhang will have a big point to prove and has upped her game by bringing in Henry Cejudo onto her coaching team. However, Rose has been here before - she’s won the Strawweight title and then lost it to Jéssica Andrade so she will be on a mission to make sure she defends it this time around.
Rose has amazing striking but will it be enough to match the high paced ferocity of Zhang? Here at FightBets we think it’s going to be going to Zhang.
Justin Gaethje v Michael Chandler
This is a super hard fight to predict.
Gaethje has only ever lost to the absolute top fighters in his division - Khabib, Poirier and Alvarez. Chandler came from Bellator as lightweight champion and took only one fight before getting a title shot against Charles Oliviera.
One thing that looks certain is this is going to be a fast-paced, intense fight with either fighter having one punch knock-out power.
In the bookmakers, Gaethje is currently favourite:

This fight really could go either way, so just for the extra value for what we think is a similar probability we’re going to include a Michael Chandler win in our parlay/accumulator.
