UFC 267 Betting Preview
UFC 267 is a Stacked card in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi featuring lots of the top non-US based UFC fighters. Let’s take a look at where we’ll be placing our bets:
Glover Teixeira v Jan Blachowicz
Light Heavyweight Main Event • For The Light Heavyweight Belt
Two veterans of the sport and possibly two of the nicest UFC fighters go head to head for the UFC Light Heavyweight title and it promises to be an interesting fight.
Blachowicz, aka the “Polish Power”, is more of a boxer and will be looking to land a knockout blow. However, he also possesses excellent wrestling and has a black belt in BJJ. In his title defence against Adesanya he showed his excellent ground work.
Teixeira is more of a grappler and a wrestler and will be looking to get the fight on the ground whenever possible. His two most recent fights were great performances and wins against Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos - however, it’s worth noting that his most recent fight (Santos) was almost a year ago.
In the bookmakers the odds are heavily favoured toward Blachowicz - at the time of writing odds on Blachowicz winning were as short as 1.37, whereas Teixeira is as long as 3.75 (at Unibet).
Petr Yan v Cory Sandhagen
Bantamweight Co-Main Event • For Interim Bantamweight Belt
Fans have dubbed this fight the ‘unofficial title fight’ as many fans still see Yan as the champion of the Bantamweight division - and with good reason - he only lost his belt to Sterling due to disqualification and he was clearly winning the fight at the time.
Yan is such a great pressure fighter and seems to omit so much power and speed from a smaller guy. Whereas Sandhagen is much taller and longer he can fight at range and will be looking to keep Yan at distance.
Both fighters have a history of going the distance - Yan has never been stopped and Sandhagen has only been submitted once. This seems to suggest the fight could go the distance.
Looking at the bookmaker odds Yan is the big favourite - at the time of writing Yan’s odds were as short as 1.4 (Betway) and Sandhagen were as long as 3 (Betway).
Islam Makhachev v Dan Hooker
Lightweight bout
Although not a title fight, the fight between Makhachev and Hooker will be widely anticipated - Makhachev, the second-coming of Khabib, and fan-favourite Hooker are guaranteed to put on a show.
Pressure fighter, wrestler Makhachev that always comes forward versus Hooker who doesn’t have the word ‘quit’ in his vocabulary.
Although Hooker has a couple of losses on his record, they include fights such as Poirier where they had an absolute war and despite it being a loss on his record it really just showed fans how tough and durable he is.
Makhachev is the massive favourite at the bookmakers - currently as short as 1.15 (Unibet). Hooker is the underdog by a long way - currently as much as 5.5 (Unibet).
In our opinion these odds aren’t fair on Hooker - in other words, there’s value in betting on Hooker. We will place a single win bet on Hooker to win, then a second bet for Hooker to win by decision.
Li Jingliang v Khamzat Chimaev
We’re including this fight on our UFC267 bets mostly for the hype train that surrounds Khamzat Chimaev - you’d be forgiven for forgetting that he’s only had three fights in the UFC. Chimaev dominates his opponents with pressure and looks to get the fight to the ground for ground and pound wearing down of his opponents.
Chimaev is undefeated in his MMA career, whereas Jingliang is 18 - 6. However, it’s worth noting that Jingliang has much more experience in the UFC and is ranked higher than Chimaev.
The odds are very favoured toward Chimaev - currently as short as 1.2 (Betfair). Whereas Jingliang is as long as 4.5 (Betfair).
Although we’re not going to include Jingliang v Chimaev in our accumulator/parlay we are going to have a small single bet on Jingliang to win.
UFC267 Accumulator/Parlay
Based on the analysis above, we’re going for the following accumulator/parly:
- Blachowicz
- Sandhagen
- Hooker
- Returns 18/1
Risk level is fairly high as we’re going against two big favourites so we will keep the stake small.
